2016. 100 E. Mulberry - Old Post Office

100 East Mulberry Street - Old Kokomo Post Office (images: 1912 and 1921 views at the corner of Mulberry and Union) An outstanding example of Neoclassical architecture, the building contains a colonnade with ionic columns, windows grouped in twos and dentils spaced along the cornice. The cornice is based on the classical “entablatures” of ancient Greece and Roman architecture, commonly seen in Neoclassical public buildings. Notice also the water table stretching along the lower façade. Above the cornice is an architectural design in a wave-shaped pattern called a “running dog.” Outstanding Design: Neoclassical Year Built: 1912
