2007. 117-119 W. Sycamore

117-119 W. Sycamore Neoclassical style elements include the decorative concrete work above the door, the dentil band that runs the width of the building both above the storefront and near the top of the building, the fanlight -- or semicircular -- windows above the second-floor windows, the shell motif that can be seen in the in the center of the building above the small window and the urns sitting on top of the building. The pilasters (partial columns) found on the second floor are also Neoclassical as they resemble the columns found in the classical architecture of Greece and Rome. A review of records since 1928 shows that furniture stores, taverns and various other businesses have occupied this building; including the Kokomo Wreckerage Company, Peoples Store Clothing and Sycamore Inn Tavern. The building is now home to Bethea’s Karate Studio and the Healthy Children Clinic. Notable Design: Neoclassical Year Built: C. 1885
