2021. 219 W. Mulberry - Grace United Methodist Church

219 West Mulberry Street - Grace United Methodist Church (images: left photo possibly taken in the 1920's, although the date is not known) Built in 1896 in the Romanesque Revival style, with later additions in 1957, this is home to Kokomo’s oldest church. Grace Church is said to have started in a tiny log cabin at the southwest corner of Washington and Superior streets that belonged to Kokomo founder David Foster. Local history tells us that it was Mrs. David Foster who gathered together the first Methodists in Howard County, long before Kokomo was incorporated. A wood frame church was constructed on this site in 1852 to replace the log cabin. Along with Howard County, Grace Church had its sesquicentennial celebration in 1994.
