1028. 906 W. Superior - Dutch Colonial Revival

c. 1925 This Colonial Revival house is of the Dutch variety because of its gambrel roof. Other features are similar to the other Colonial Revival examples in the Silk Stocking neighborhood such as the massive brick chimney with quarter-circle openings flanking it, sixover-six windows, and barrel vault hood over the side entrance. Notice the slender double wood doors on the front façade. This home still uses steam heat with the original registers. (Colonial Revival: This style became popular in the late nineteenth century. Buildings of this type have strictly symmetrical facades and are usually rectangular in plan with no or minimum projections. Eaves have classical detailing, and windows are usually doublehung sash.)
